commentary:	Alton, Alresford and Winchester Railway, later Mid Hants Railway, then LSWR, joining existing routes, from Alton to Winchester, Hampshire, authorized 28 June 1861, opened 2 October 1865. The Alton, Alresford and Winchester Railway Co was incorporated to build a railway by Act of Parliament:-
